Paul Gomory became a retained executive recruiter in 1981, after working in corporate finance, government and consulting. He graduated from Stanford Business School and Amherst College (Honors; National Merit Scholar), and attended Institut de Hautes Etudes Internationales (Geneva).
He is an investor in several U.S. and international venture capital funds, and six startups received venture funding via Paul’s introductions.
Paul founded his one-man retained search practice in 1988 to recruit CEOs and their direct reports with the highest level of personal attention, focus, commitment, and responsiveness. He recruits for no more than three client companies at once.
During 1986-1987, Paul was a Vice President with Parsells Associates, recruiting CEOs and their direct reports for emerging technology companies; and from 1981 to 1985, he was with Korn/Ferry International in San Francisco, doing the same work as a Korn/Ferry Partner.
Earlier, Paul worked in corporate finance with Weiss, Peck & Greer, served three years on the White House Staff in international economic roles, and worked for Private Investment Company for Asia (Singapore) and for the International Monetary Fund.
Paul served 23 years on the Board of All May See Foundation, the vision research foundation at University of California/San Francisco. He is a former long-time Trustee of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and former Chairman of San Francisco Dance Theater.
Paul is a dual citizen (USA/France) and speaks French. He is a member of the St. Francis Yacht Club (San Francisco) and of the Cercle de l’Union Interalliee (Paris).
